Course Description
Why not take your team through a truly unique experience?
The Challenger Learning Centres were conceived by the bereaved families of the 1986 Challenger shuttle crew as a memorial to their loved ones. Originally designed to inspire school students to learn maths and science, the centres are also available for corporate use and allow organisations to discover the parallels between space missions and normal working environments.

At the Leicester Challenger Centre, we will put your managers through a fully manned space mission that will be facilitated by Maguire and trained NSC Flight Directors.

The Programme Includes:
The two groups will be assigned in order to man Mission Control and the Space Station, they will be given mission objectives to achieve. They will take on specific roles such as Medical Officer, Astronaut or Probe Engineer and will receive detailed feedback on the mission after it is completed.

After a short break the Mission Control and the Space Station teams will switch roles and run a second mission following further feedback and analysis. Lunch will be served after completion of both missions. During both missions the emphasis is on co-operation, working together towards a common purpose and fun.

Through expert feedback, issues that relate to the working practices of virtual teams can also be explored as video links, headsets and e-mail links, which are used during the mission, provide strong parallels with day-to-day working life. There will be problem solving challenges and the simulation also tests leadership, communication, teamwork and influencing skills, whilst operating in an ambiguous environment.

Following the completion of the two missions and lunch, the Maguire facilitators will take the teams into a classroom environment to de-brief on the morning’s activities and examine in detail the lessons that can be learned and implemented back in the workplace.

The afternoon session will again see practical exercises in use but will be geared entirely to taking the lessons from the morning session and applying them to the workplace by way of thought provoking discussion, feedback and coaching.

This event is based on a minimum of 14 and a maximum of 30 delegates participating, Maguire will also be able to provide specially made polo-shirts for each of the teams which they can keep to remind them of their experience and also a USB photo album of the key moments of the event.

In the final analysis the team will go away from this event, having had a truly unique experience that will impact on their behaviour back at work and which they can ‘dine-out’ on for some time to come.
